EF 50mm f/1.8 Mark II with Canon EOS 850?
I have a Canon EOS 850, which has an EF 50mm 1:1.8 MK I lens, which has gone blurry coz of long unuse. Got the camera cleaned but the lens elements being tiny and compartmentalized by Canon, could not get the lens cleaned thoroughly. It is an old camera for what I know, but reviews on internet say it's a handy one and good for a beginner. I need to know if I can use EF 50mm f/1.8 MK II with this camera. This lens apparently is a robust performing one and comes far more relenting on the pocket. To add, those camera savvy must be knowing that EOS 850 is an analog model, but the lens though used on DSLRs is a successor of EF 50mm f/1.8 MK I, which the EOS 850 had attached when I purchased it.
Yes, the relevant piece of information is that both are EF mount lenses - you can use all EF mount lenses on your camera.
Be aware that there also are EF-S mount lenses. These *must not* be used on it - while they will physically mount on the camera, the mirror will hit the rear element of the lens once one tries to take a photo, possibly breaking the mirror and damaging the lens.
